Harrison Ford joins ANCHORMAN 2

Because why not, right?

Eternal grump Ford will be playing a Tom Brokaw-like legendary news anchor, a rival to Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy. Let the mustachioed snarling commence.

Brand new teaser for ANCHORMAN 2 is here!

Yes, this is different that the bootleg one that I posted a week or so back. This one is for real, and still hilarious. I really cannot wait for this sequel; just seeing the gang all back in action, I can barely contain my excitement. Here’s hoping they will capture that lolz magic one more time.

A lot of super awesome people joined Will Ferrell last night on SNL

Will Ferrell returned to studio 8H last night, and the results weren’t half bad. And by that I mean, the first half of the show was fucking awesome, and the second half was a shitshow.

Last night’s ep nearly made my head explode for one simple reason: CAMEOS! It is no secret to those that know me that SNL cameos are one of my favorite things. It never ceases to amaze me that they can get just about anyone they want to come on the show and participate in something hilarious. Case in point last night when the likes of Liam Neeson, Ana Gasteyer, Will Forte, Justin Timberlake, Natalie Portman, and Julian Casablancas all showed their face for some laughs.

I can’t decide if all of that was to mask the fact that the sketches were mostly weaksauce, or if they just thought, ‘hey, we’ve got Will back, let’s see who else will show up!’ It doesn’t *really* matter, as I enjoyed the celeb visits immensely, but…it does make me wonder. Because because because—when you got down to the nitty gritty of the sketches, it was mostly cameo fanfare and some really lame one-offs. The last half of the show after Update was pretty atrocious. I don’t know where they lost their mojo, but they lost it big.

The cold open was actually kind of awesome, if not totally predictable. Ferrell revisited his George W. Bush impression in a hilarious scenario in Joe Biden’s bedroom. I actually quite enjoyed it.

The monologue on the other hand was surprisingly forced and stale. It wasn’t really that humorous, even with the addition of Ferrell’s mom for laughs.

We got a fauxmercial right of the bat, but this one wasn’t one of their best. I still enjoyed it, but they’ve definitely had better.

To my surprise, we got a new edition of ESPN Classics, with special guest Will Forte reprising his role of anchor George Stink. It was rife with hilarious oneliners for feminine products, which is no surprise. There was another aspect of this sketch with Will Ferrell as a reporter during the OJ Simpson Bronco chase of 1994 which was just bizarre as hell and not that funny.

And even more to my surprise, we got a visit from Ana Gasteyer for the return of one of my favorite sketches of all time—the choir duo of Will and Ana covering popular songs for a school function. It was so fucking great! (This video isn’t online for some ungodly stupid reason.)

Weekend Update was great, with a REALLY?!? segment discussing the TIME magazine cover about breast feeding, and a new “Get in the Cage” with special guest Liam Neeson! I LOVE the Cage segments and I LOVE Neeson, and this was awesome.

The coup de’gras, if you will, was none other than SNL’s 100th Digital Short. 100! I can’t believe they’ve done that many. They pulled out ALL the stops for this one, with callbacks to all of their best shorts, and celeb cameos galore. I mean they got EVERYBODY. It was hilarious, well-crafted and just flat out amazing. This will be one of my favorite shorts, I can just tell.  I LOVED IT SO MUCH. SO MUCH.

And then things just got shitty. The show just fell apart. the last several sketches were crap, and they’re below if you want to judge for yourself.

Usher was Usher. He sounded fine, danced fine. He even showed up in a sketch or two.

I’m really looking forward to the finale next week with Mick Jagger AND Foo Fighters AND Arcade Fire.

Will Ferrell announces ANCHORMAN sequel, finally

It’s about damn time.

Though I am usually against sequels unless the films are based on books or some sort of other series, I think 8 years is long enough for me not to get my panties in a wad about this one. Not to mention, if the whole gang is back, surely it will be glorious. Surely.

Check out the video below in which Ron Burgundy stops by Conan to announce the news.
